    Seven Delicious Brennivin Cocktail Recipes You Need to Try Today!

    Embrace your inner Icelander with these unique recipes featuring the Icelandic aquavit.

    While Brennivin is often enjoyed simply as an ice cold shot, it also makes for some great cocktails! For those looking for something with a little more flair, Brennivin America’s Joe Spiegel has compiled a list of his favorite recipes, which highlight the Icelandic aquavit’s unique flavor.

    The Wildfire

    - 1.5 oz Brennivin
    - .5 oz Hot-Pepper Honey (I like to use cayenne and habanero peppers)
    - 3 drops Bolivar bitters (from Bittercube Bitters in Milwaukee)

    Method: Combine ingredients with ice in shaker and shake. Double strain into glass.
    Glass: Goblet or snifter
    Garnish: Smoke applewood chips with a handheld cold-smoker, or use open flame (carefully!)

    Arctic Solstice

    - 2 oz Brennivin
    - 1 oz Chambord or Chateau Monet Creme Framboise
    - 1 oz Fresh squeezed lime juice

    Method: Shake with ice. Strain.
    Glass: Collins; top with soda water to fill
    Garnish: Mint sprig and slice of grapefruit

    Black Rose

    - 1.5 oz Brennivin
    - 1.25 oz Lillet Rose
    - 0.25 oz Kina D’Avion d’Or

    Method: Stir / Strain
    Glass: Coupe

    Iced Coffee

    - 1.75 oz Brennivin
    - 0.25 oz Galliano Ristretto
    - 0.5 oz Cruzan Blackstrap Rum
    - 0.75 oz Grapefruit Juice
    - 1 Barspoon Demerara Syrup

    Method: Shake / Strain
    Glass: Double Old Fashioned with crushed ice
    Garnish: Mint sprig

    - 2 oz Brennivin
    - 1 oz Lillet Blanc
    - 1 oz Tangerine or mandarin orange juice, preferably the Ojai Pixie Tangerine
    - 2 dashes citrus bitters

    Method: Shake
    Glass: Coup
    Garnish: Orange peel

    Harry's Old Fashioned
    Created in 2014 by Harry Sheff (Cocktails & Cologne)
    - 1 oz Brennivin
    - 1 oz Rittenhouse Rye
    - 1 dash bitters
    - ½ barspoon simple syrup

    Method: Shake
    Glass: Double Old Fashioned
    Garnish: Orange or grapefruit peel

    Sæmundur: The Knowledgeable
    Created in 2014 by Warren Bobrow (Cocktail Whisperer)
    - 2 oz Brennivin
    - ½ oz American Fruits Sour Cherry Cordial
    - 1 oz Mint simple syrup: Crush 1 cup spearmint and add to 1 cup Demerara Sugar and 1 cup spring water. Bring to a simmer in a non-reactive saucepan for at least 20 minutes. Reduce to desired thickness and strain out the mint with a cheesecloth. Reduce some more for extra good luck in battle.
    - 1 oz soda water
    - 2-3 drops Bitter Truth lemon bitters

    Method: Shake Brennivin, Sour Cherry Cordial, mint syrup and bar ice. Strain into Collins glass filled with hand-cut ice. Top with soda water and bitters.
    Glass: Collins
    Garnish: Sour cherry pierced by a long straw
