Start off the day by exploring Hafnarfjörður’s town center for a taste of authentic Icelandic cuisine in one of the many cafes, bakeries, or restaurants. The locals are happy to suggest some of their favorites as well!
The village also has a must-see collection of local artists’ work spread throughout the town’s many galleries. One of the most notable stops for local talent is Hafnarfjörður’s harbor. Not only is this area a beautiful and relaxing place to walk around, but it is also home to many art studios and galleries that showcase Icelandic artwork and design.
For fun and free entertainment, visitors can attend one of The Hafnarborg Institute of Culture and Fine Arts’ art shows or musical events. Attendees can also take an unforgettable trip to the Hafnarfjörður Museum. The main museum building houses three exhibitions tracing town history and antique toys for children. Admission to these events are free and the open during the weekend hours of 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
End your day with a relaxing soak in one of Hafnarfjörður swimming pools. Swimming in naturally warm geothermal water a must-do activity during a visit to Iceland!
