Hlíf Sigurjóns

Acclaimed Icelandic violin soloist Hlíf Sigurjóns will be playing a concert at New York City's Merkin Concert Hall, Kaufman Center, 129 West 67th Street (Tel: 212.501.3303).
Hlíf Sigurjóns furthered her violin studies at the Universities of Indiana and Toronto and at the Banff School of Fine Arts. Later she took private lessons with the renowned violinist and teacher Gerald Beal in New York. During her studies she was fortunate enough to work with many of the leading musicians of the twentieth century such as William Primrose, Zoltan Szekely, György Sebök, Rucciero Ricci and Igor Oistrach. Her CD of Béla Bartók´s 44 Duos (recorded with violinist Valsson) has received excellent reviews.
The evening's repertoire will include: J.S. Bach: Sonata I in G minor BWV 1001;J.S. Bach: Partita II in D minor BWV 1004; Jónas Tómasson: Wintertrees for violin solo, written for and dedicated to Hlíf Sigurjónsdóttir; J.S. Bach: Partita III in E major BWV 1006.
