2010 IACC Conference Report Available - March 31, 2010

The 2010 IACC Conference was held on April 8th and was a success with strong attendance and focused discussion. The subject of the event centered on Iceland's economy, the renewable energy industry, and the recent Icesave negotiations. Panelists included Dr. Gylfi Magnusson, Ministry of Economic Affairs in Iceland; Mr. Mark Flanagan, IMF Mission Chief for Iceland; Mr. Asgeir Margeirsson, Magma Energy Iceland; Mr. Arni Magnusson, Islandsbanki; and Mr. Lee C. Iceland's Minister of Economic Affairs @ National Press Club April 7th - March 29, 2010

Iceland's Imperative: Reform, Restructure, Rebuild

The Minister of Economic Affairs of Iceland, Dr. Gylfi Magnússon addressed members and guests of the National Press Club in Washington, DC on April 7. Minister Magnusson reviewed recent economic developments in Iceland including changes in banking supervision and regulation, future plans going regarding Iceland's collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the situation regarding the strife with the UK and the Netherlands over the "Icesave" accounts of the failed private bank, Landsbanki. 

Dr. Gylfi Magnsson is a leading Icelandic economist, a professor at the University of Iceland and Iceland's Minister of Economic Affairs. In 2009, he joined the coalition government of Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir and has been instrumental in leading Iceland's recovery plan following the economic difficulties of 2008.

Seabear Blazes North America with a Debut Headlining Tour March 17 - April 2 - March 01, 2010

Icelandic experimental indie-folk septet Seabear is preparing to make their first set of appearances in North America on a national headlining tour, including several shows at this year's SXSW. The band will perform songs from their upcoming Morr Music release, We Built a Fire. As a musical cherry on top, Via Tania and Seabear multi-instrumentalist Sóley will play opening sets. Sóley plays solo with occasional back-up by other Seabear members in support of her Theater Island EP, also due out on Morr Music in March. All together, it promises to be a line-up of intricate, lovely tunes like you've never heard before.
