The Icelandic film Under the Tree is a contender for the 2018 Oscars under the foreign-language category and the Academy will announce the nominees for the category on January 23. About Under the Tree

Icelandic director Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson’s Under the Tree is a “hilariously absurd and psychologically astute” dramedy about feuding Icelandic suburban neighbors. Baldwin and Inga’s next door neighbors, Konrad and Eybjorg, complain that a tree in their backyard casts a shadow over their sundeck. The Hollywood Reporter reviews the cast as “excellent, with each actor contributing just the right amount of confusion to the emotional mess.”
