Upon moving to Toronto from a small town in Manitoba, bartending was the furthest thing from Sara Kuz’s mind. After working as a server in various Toronto restaurants, Sara landed at Jump restaurant in the summer of 2012. During this time, Jump was revitalizing its bar culture, and Sara was encouraged by the management team to try her hand at cocktail creation. Once Sara realized she could make something delicious for guests and have fun with different flavour combinations, she was hooked. During her time at Jump, Sara completed Wine & Spirit Education Trust training and participated in weekly wine tastings, while also contributing her own creative cocktail ideas for the bar menu. In May 2013, Sara was one of four bartenders invited to participate in Toronto Life’s exclusive The Art of The Cocktail event, where she showcased an original cocktail recipe. In November 2013, Sara transitioned to a mixologist and assistant manager position at Luma, where she continues to drive the restaurant’s innovative cocktail program.
