A Chance to Win a Trip to Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavik with Icelandair

Born in 1986, Ólafur Arnalds hails from the suburban Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, just
outside of Reykjavík. His unique musical trajectory manages to combine beguiling electronic
chamber music and symphonic compositions into near weightless orchestral pieces.

Ólafurʼs second full-length album '...and they have escaped the weight of darkness', has
earned acclaim from both the contemporary and classical field. He has sold out some of the
worldʼs most renowned music venues including The Barbican Hall in London and played to
sell out audience across Europe and The Far East. Óliʼs crusade against moribund divisions
between “pop” and “classical” continues into 2011 with his first U.S tour beginning in Boston
on 24th January followed by 10 further shows including New York, Detroit, Chicago, San
Francisco and Los Angeles.

Óli will also be at Sundance Film Festival on 23rd January for the premiere of the Sam
Levinson movie ʻAnother Happy Dayʼ for which Ólafur has written the score.
