Iceland in the News

"Sure enough, like the ghosts that haunted the photographs of Victorian hoaxers, appearing only after they were developed, when we look at our cameras the results are spellbinding. Wisps of green streak across a blue-black sky so starry that it could be snowing."

- Daily Mail reporter Sebastian Lander, from his trip to Iceland, chasing the elusive Northern Lights. Click here for more.

"Sequels to the northern lights, like last week's polar sky shows, are likely headed for Earth on a once-a-month basis for the next year or two, solar physics experts say."

- The January 30th edition of USA Today quotes space weather experts from the University of Michigan and NASA stating aurora activity will increase throughout 2012 to a peak in 2013. Click here for more.

"Contrary to this vision of fish-wielding pedestrians, the Icelandic capital city of Reykjavik is a metropolis, albeit a subdued one. While its nightlife thrives on weekends, during the day the city is quiet and peaceful."

- The January/February edition of VENU magazine features an article wherein journalist Jenna Blumenfeld compares the rough landscape and challenges of Iceland to the refined pleasures of Iceland, and can be read right here.

"Thorisdottir is currently studying chemistry, and eventually plans to go to medical school. But given her current Crossfit success, she's making her athletic career a high priority."

- The 2011 Crossfit Games champion, 21-year old Icelander Annie Thorisdottir, was profiled in the December issue of Competitor magazine. The piece is not online yet, but keep an eye out for it. Congratulations, Annie.
